The idea behind the FreeCAD Nut project is to combine the functionality of the FreeCAD main distribution with a cleaner, aesthetic, and easy-to-read interface. Therefore to make it attractive to a larger user base comprised of 3D artists, illustrators, architects, consumer product designers, and engineers. The software is and will remain free for both commercial and noncommercial use. This makes it a good option for startups, small studios, and a variety of enthusiast 3D creators. FreeCAD Nut is currently available for Windows-based systems. Linux and MacOS versions are planned as well. FreeCAD Nut comes prebuilt with the most common modules and custom toolbars and it is fully preconfigured. This release would be a valuable asset for users who like to focus on creating rather than investing their time in researching, customizing, and configuring the large number of software modules available for FreeCAD. While introducing significant aesthetic changes to the interface there was a conscience effort to preserve many elements from the older releases. The familiar look and feel of the interface will make FreeCAD Nut attractive to existing users as well as new adopters.

FreeCAD Nut as well as the main FreeCAD project are actively developed and are subject to frequent changes and fixes.
